Jose Mª Rodríguez Calleja has been an Associate Professor at the University of León since 2019. He obtained his degree in Agricultural Engineering (2000) and a Bachelor's in Food Science and Technology (2005). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of León (2006) and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2007). His research focuses on the typification of foodborne pathogenic bacteria, the characterization of antimicrobial resistance, and the application of new technologies for microbiological control in various foods. He has conducted several research stays abroad on the application of new food preservation technologies and their effects on foodborne bacteria. He is part of the SAMA research group at the University of León and is also a member of the Consolidated Research Unit recognized by the Junta de Castilla y León UIC 223. He is a member of several scientific societies, including ACTA/CL (currently as Vice President) and SEM. His teaching activities have been ongoing since 2002 in undergraduate programs (Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Technology, and Biotechnology) and Master's programs (Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Research, and Food Science and Technology). He has also collaborated in other master's programs at the University of León and other universities. He coordinates a teaching innovation group at the University of León and is currently the director of the academic planning area of the Vice-Rectorate for Academic Activity (ULE).
