My research focuses on several groups of plants, especially Monocos, being involved in conservation projects, plant diversity, and Iberian flora. I am currently working on the systematics and evolution of grasses, sedges, and orchids. My interests and specialty are species relationships, and biogeographical patterns in the grasses (Poaceae) using techniques ranging from in-depth morphological, anatomical, cytological, micromorphological, molecular, cladistic, and population-based genetic studies using soluble enzymes. I made revisionary studies in the large grass genera, Bromus, a cereals relative that include important forage grasses and invasive species. Due to my specialties, I am very interested in the revaluation and conservation of Natural History Collections. From a more applied point of view, I am interested in plant conservation, invasive plants, and risk assessment. I love exploring plants in nature. I am passionate about joining research, teaching, and scientific communication in new and creative ways, but also to know connections between people and the natural world, -natural resources, an integral part of long-term human and environmental well-being. I lead the consolidated research group TaCoBi and the Teaching Innovation Group ACBoSco in the University of León (Spain)
