Abstract

The football industry has experienced an extraordinary growth in recent years, which has been between 10% and 15%, depending on the market, according to some authors. However, it is predicted that this growth rate will slow down in the coming years as a result of the global economic and financial crisis of 2008-2009. Therefore, some of the sports organizations dedicated to football in Mexico have begun to work with management models oriented to continual improvement (or Kaizen, as it is called in Japanese), quality control and strategic planning. Thus, the main purpose of the study is to understand the application of Kaizen in a context as specific as a sports organization dedicated to football. Through a qualitative application of the case study method, it was possible to see that the Kaizen management approach can help a sports organization improve its management system and therefore obtain better sports results. A theoretical scheme of continual improvement management is the final result of this research project.
