Abstract

In recent decades, there have been several changes on the world scene fostered by globalization in the economy, education reforms, new technologies and innovation. The educational system has undergone constant changes not only in management but also in the direction of their deployment processes of external evaluation systems. In Brazil, from the 1990s, the federal government began to pay special attention to basic education in elementary school level. This research aimed to evaluate the quality of basic education in schools and Full-Time Education Centers in Manaus-AM from the perspective of Development of Basic Education-Ideb Index in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2013. In this context, this research was based on the CIPP, evaluation model and aimed to assess the quality of basic education, elementary school, final years in Schools and Full-Time Education Center in Manaus, from the perspective of Development Index Basic Education (Ideb) in the years 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013, analyzing the relationship between the Ideb and context, characteristics of ETIs and CETIs in Manaus-AM. Based on a qualitative study, in which primary data were collected through the Survey gathering method, supported by structured questionnaire, Statistical procedures were used for internal (Cronbach’s alpha) and external validation, and performing of hypothesis tests by using Chi-square.
