Doctor by the Universidad de León with the thesis La intervención humanitaria y el Derecho internacional 2001. Supervised by Dr. Romualdo Bermejo García.

I am a tenured Associate Professor of Public International Law and International Relations and teach Public International Law and European Community Law, together with post-graduate courses on the international protection of human rights, the International Criminal Court and international criminal responsibility. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor, a Lecturer, and a Instructor/Lecturer at the University of Leon, Spain. I was a Tutor for several seasons of the Université d’été des droits de l’homme in Geneva, Switzerland. I have made visits for research and teaching purposes to the Centre d’Études et de Recherches Internationales et Communautaires (CERIC) of the Université Paul Cézanne in Aix-en-Provence in France, the Centre de Recherche en Droit Public (CRDP) of the Université de Montréal in Canada, and the Jean Monnet Chair in the Law of the International Economic Integration of the Faculty of Law of the McGill University of Montreal, Canada, the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP) of the Graduate Institute, and the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, these last two in Geneva in Switzerland. I have undertaken management tasks as Secretary of the Faculty of Law for a period of six months, as Deputy Secretary-General of the University of Leon from July 2008 to September 2009, as Director of Doctoral Studies of the University of Leon from May 2012 to May 2016, and as Vice-Dean for Academic and Students Affairs of the Faculty of Law from July 2020.
