Resumen
Changes caused by the growth of ICT have an impact on the educational sector. One such change is the Internet of Things (IoT), which is growing in importance due to the potential overall benefits that it may offer. Despite this, IoT is still in its early stages in the educational systems especially in developing countries. Although adopting IoT may lead to a paradigm shift in many industries, specifically education, it is not fully utilised. Moreover, resources for Higher Education (HE) business processes may be managed effectively. IoT also provides a variety of interaction channels that improves the teaching-learning process, and many more aspects associated with the interactive learning environment, so this research intends to explore the effects of IoT on the educational business process. HE institutions will easily gather massive volumes of data from sensors and wearable devices and take actions on that data using the IoT technologies. These systems can range from checking the temperature reading, to identifying objects; such as intruders using computer vision on video. They can also enable students to use embedded sensors, QR codes, and other technologies to explore a location so that they can always have access to informational resources and other items. Moreover, in order to enhance the teaching and learning processes, instructors can integrate wearable technology in the classroom. A smart classroom may be thought of as an intelligent setting with various hardware and software components. Furthermore, IoT modules can track various aspects of the physical environment or student characteristics, such as performance and accomplishments. Thus, a mixed methods approach is used, where structured questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and observations are conducted to gather data from relevant stakeholders. Then the collected data are statistically and interpretively analysed to understand the current situation and examine HE readiness to adopt IoT technology. Four main hypotheses were investigated in the research to create a suggested assessment model, which was then validated using the structural equation modelling (SEM) method and NVIVO. The analysis of the study's hypotheses yielded that; IoT Usage has a significant positive impact on HE Business Process Efficiency, and that IoT Usage mediates the relationship between the independent variables (complex dependencies, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, perceived trust, privacy risk and cost) and Efficiency of HE Business Process. Finally, IoT User Types moderates the relationship between complex dependencies, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, perceived trust, privacy risk and cost and Efficiency of HE Business Process. Therefore, This study gives decisionmakers a road map for effectively manage university resources and enhance the teachinglearning process in the classroom and enables the communication between devices and resources by making data easily accessible to be used efficiently.
