Abstract

The ordinances are essential to keep a city in working order. In this way we can findremains of society rules.The book we analyse here, the “Ordenanzas municipales de la ciudad de León” (printedin the 17th century), is in the Isidorian library. It is divided into thirty chapters -for our interest-, inwhich we find ordinances on food handling, handling of hides, sanitary control and public healthas well as the livestock tax and licenses.
