Abstract

Convention No. 52 regulates the right of workers (included in its scope of application) to paid annual holidays of a minimum duration of six working days per year worked. This international Convention constitutes, without a doubt, a singular advance in the matter of work, personal and family life balance and the right to rest for employees. The purpose of holidays, configured as a basic right of workers, is to offer workers a chance to rest, distract themselves and develop their faculties. Several decades later, Convention No. 132, which increases the duration of vacations and provides more complete regulation. However, the Convention under analysis assumes the cornerstone from which the reference institution has been built
