Abstract

The aim of this study is to adapt the Spanish Version of the Psychological Characteristics related to the Sports Performance quest ionnaire (PCSP) for practitioners in mountain sports (PCSP - M), in order to have more resources for analyzing psychological factors in this sport field. The sample consisted of 497 athletes, from seven mountain - sports modalities. The sample adequacy was cal culated using the Kaiser - Meyer - Olkin system ( KMO = .908) and Bartlett's significance ( p =.000), followed by a exploratory and factorial factor analysis. We obtained a questionnaire consisting of 45 items and 4 factors that analyze the Stress Control, Influenc e of external factors on performance, Self - confidence and Motivation. The reliability of the instrument was verified by internal consistency analysis ( α = .904). Results allow us to confirm that this adaptation is a useful and accurate instrument, with adequate psychometric properties, to analyze psychological factors that influence on the performance of practitioners in mountain sports.
