Professor in the Department of Physical and Sport Education at the University of León, where he has been teaching and conducting research for over two decades. He holds a PhD in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences from the University of León, where his doctoral thesis—awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize—examined motivational factors influencing competitive swimming practice. This work laid the foundation for a solid academic career focused on the psychological, motivational, and well-being aspects of exercise and sport. His research trajectory, endorsed by four six-year research periods officially recognized by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), has resulted in an extensive body of scientific work, including articles in international indexed journals (JCR, Scopus), book chapters, and contributions to national and international collective volumes. He is the author of the book Motivational Factors Influencing Competitive Swimming Practice and Their Relationship with Perceived Physical Ability and Social Desirability, published by the University of León Press. His research has been continuously linked to the Recognized Research Group “Psychology of Physical Activity and Sport” (PSIAFDE) and to the Institute of Biomedicine (IBIOMED) of the University of León, within the “Exercise, Health and Quality of Life” research unit. In the academic field, he has continuously taught undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses related to exercise physiology, sport psychology, training programming, and aquatic activities. He has actively participated in several official master’s programs at the University of León, including the Master’s in Innovation and Research in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, the Master’s in Training and Sport Performance, and the Master’s in Healthy Ageing and Quality of Life, serving as course coordinator and supervisor of numerous master’s theses and doctoral dissertations. His commitment to teaching excellence is reflected in several awards for teaching innovation and in his coordination of institutional projects aimed at fostering autonomous learning and integrating research into university teaching. He has also directed university-specific degree programs and contributed to knowledge transfer and outreach initiatives related to physical activity and health. His bibliometric indicators (h-index: 14 in Web of Science, 15 in Scopus, and 31 in Google Scholar) demonstrate the impact and visibility of his research work. Overall, his career reflects a balanced combination of research excellence, educational commitment, and institutional service, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of physical activity, sport, and health.le Scholar).
