Abstract

The incidence of Salmonella spp. in fresh fish samples sold in the city of Pamplona (Colombia) was assessed by a conventional method with two different media and isolation on XLD and Rambach solid media. Also a simplified protocol with the Salmosyst system was assayed. Salmonella spp. was detected in 12 % (6 out of 50) of the samples. Four samples yielded positive results for Salmonella spp. with the conventional procedure and two different samples were positive by the Salmosyst selective enrichment. All the positive isolates were detected on Rambach plates.
