Abstract
The main objective of this work is to analyze the tags assigned to the photographic documents in a commercial agency, Agefotostock, in order to know what are the most common characteristics of these free descriptors. Among the nine thematic categories offered, the so-called “Gente” (people) was chosen and it was decided to selectthe first 100 photos retrieved in the last fortnight of April 2019 ordered according to their popularity, which assured to have a sufficiently large sample. The study of the sample was approached taking the following elements of analysis: number of tags assigned by photography; type and morphology of the terms; number of terms per tag; percentage of content tags versus format tags or techniques; percentage of denotative and connotative tags, coincidence of tags and synonymy. The results show a very exhaustive indexing in which tagsmade up of a single word that are mostly noun predominate, although the presence of adjectives and verbs is not insignificant as might be expected to show observable qualities and actions in the images.
