Abstract
Most of the spanish universities have some sort of educational online system based on internet. In fact, since the advent of what has been called ICT -Information and Communication Technologies- universities, educative centers, high schools and many other organizations have eagerly invested in hardware, e-learning platforms and contents development, without seriously considering whether these actions served any purpose. Besides of the clear advantages of a system that doesn't require the student to live in a particular area, it is provided 24 hours a day, and that allows the enhancement of the student technological competencies, what are the contributions of such formative system? Are we taking advantage of the whole set of opportunities that they provide, or are we just uploading some lecture notes? Are we playing in the e-learning arena, or are we calling e-learning what we should call ereading?
