Abstract
The noble families of the city of Burgos, despite their economic decline, were more innovative in terms of material culture and lifestyles, than the nobility of the city of León in the 18th century. They demanded new fashions earlier, without waiting for the first half of the 19th century. However, while the changes were not very noticeable in the rooms of the houses, the pieces of furniture or decorative objects in the rooms, novelties in clothes and personal jewellery, the external display to the rest of society and much more visible, were incorporated faster, especially French ones, influenced by the Court, also reflected in the cars, saloons and the clothes with which they dressed their servants.
