Zusammenfassung

The objective of this work is to analyze gender relations in the self-employed sector of the economy in the municipality of Camagüey. The research methods used were the quantitative-qualitative methodological perspective through different social research techniques; The main results are specified in that this labor alternative, as part of the transformations derived from the update of the socioeconomic model, has offered an opportunity for women. It was found that in self-employment gender inequalities are manifested, as a result of the occupational segregation to which women are subjected solely due to their sexual condition, which limits their participation in many of the activities dominated by men. This form of employment is of great importance for the economy and services of the territory, because it has managed to partially cover the deficit of jobs, generating new services and activities, in which women have been able to insert themselves.
