Resumen

La investigación se centra en el estudio de la desigualdad social en áreas metropolitanas españolas (estudiosde caso: Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia) asumiendo la elasticidad del concepto y buscando,a partir de los datos ofrecidos por fuentes estadísticas oficiales, correlaciones entre la estructura demográfica,la desigualdad en ingreso y algunos fenómenos territoriales en auge, como son la gentrificacióny la turistificación de las ciudades. Asimismo, se asume el reto metodológico de combinar indicadorescomo el coeficiente de Gini y la Quantile ratio, a la vez que en el plano de las relaciones territoriales seensaya la aplicación del concepto de autocorrelación espacial para explicar la desigualdad observada, loque implica el recurso a los modelos SARAR. Los resultados se muestran en tablas y mapas y se discutenen función de las hipótesis enunciadas, finalizando con las conclusiones y la bibliografía citada. Coneste trabajo se espera avanzar en el conocimiento de la desigualdad en contextos metropolitanos y suscomponentes espaciales.
