Abstract

We have evaluated the serum values of iron and zinc in several sheep flocks located in the bank of Órbigo river. Blood samples were obtained from all the different age-groups of the flock. Analysis was made by means of ICP technique. The zinc values oscillate between 0,68 μg/ml and 0,94 μg/ml, with the highest levels in the young animals. Many of these values are found clearly under them indicated as fisiological values. Also the majority of the animals they presented values of seric iron below them considered normal for the ovine. The seric levels of iron diminish to the extent that grow the animals, from 1,06 μg/ml in lambs to 0,92 μg/ml old sheep.
