Factors affecting fertility at parturition and prolificity were studied in a sampling of 2.316 cervical inseminations on 11 Castellana sheep farms during 2003-2005. Overall fertility was 39.54 %, and prolificity 1.56 offspring per parturition, with 42.84 multiple births. The factors most influencing fertility at parturition were, in order of importance, time of insemination, ewe age and the herd factor, involving the management of each farm. The factors most affecting prolificity were, the interval between parturition and artificial insemination and ewe age and the least important were the year of insemination, herd, month of insemination and ram.
