Abstract

Professors of the Manufacturing Processes Engineering Area have detected specific difficulties for tracking and evaluating the bachelor (TFG) and master (TFM) final projects. Teachers do not have tools to evaluate objectively the project with similar criteria and there is no enough rigor when verifying the competences that the student must acquire during development of the TFG / TFM. On the other hand, students find great difficulties when facing the task of developing the TFG / TFM. For these reasons we have studied a stage model for monitoring students that makes this task easier for tutors, establishing specific actions to be taken at each stage. To this end, assessment scales have been drawn up based on the acquisition of competencies. These scales allow an objective evaluation of the student's work; evaluable aspects are defined through clear and objective criteria. So, the student's learning process is improved since he/she is aware of the activities and achievements that he must achieve in each stage. In addition, the use of assessment scales favors the formative evaluation and helps students to identify the weaknesses and strengths of their learning, developing a critical spirit of their learning process and getting involved in their own evaluation.
