Abstract
The German Constitutional Court has rejected the request for a referendum for the independence of the current Land of Bavaria in the Federal Republic of Germany. The author analyzes the process of integration of Bavaria in the Empire German and then in the Republic Federal German. It especially underlines the importance of the federal loyalty as unwritten constitutional principle.
