Abstract
Within the contemporary Spanish poetry, the so-called “current” poets, a name which makes reference not only to the Nine current Spanish poets (1970) from Castellet but also to a broader group, were characterised by their recreating character of their writing. The figure of Luis Alberto de Cuenca stands out among them and his recreating practice has influenced a lot his and other people’s writings. The double version of one of his poetic compositions has been analysed in this article. Its title “The Knight, Death and Evil” has been inspired by one of Durero’s engravings. The first one appeared in Elsinore (1972) and the second- a great rewriting practice- appeared in Por fuertes y fronteras (1996). The analysis explains the double version of an ecfrasic and complex poem, and it considers it as a journey from poetry of obscurity to poetry of light, according to the general evolution of his poetry.
