Abstract

Since he was a child, Bécquer lived immersed in painting and music, hence, in his writing, it is perceived the totality of a whole, in which the images plasticity and the musicality of his word are joint. The musical references showed in the Rimas, sound material which is arranged emotional and formally according to melody, rhythm and harmony, are also found in the writings on poetic creation, the review to La Soledad (1861) by Augusto Ferrán, the Cartas literarias a una mujer and the Introducción sinfónica, and in the Leyendas and the letters Desde mi celda, which show a greater sound development of the inspiring motif. The aim of Bécquer is not only to provide the sound with a subjective soul but also to express an inner music preceding the stated sound and where the rhythm dominates the word, the sound of speaking.
