Abstract
This paper, in dealing with Ortega introduces as a coactor, Thomas S. Kuhn, the well known historian of science, although no mutual influences between them can be detected. The aim of the following text is to show that both of them have formulated theories or philosophies of history whose similarities go beyond the mere formal aspects and that the comparison thereof may throw some light on some equivocal and vague notions of modernity.
