Resum

In the present article, an analysis regarding the old parish church of nuestra Señora del Carmen —currently demystified and located in the port of San Juan de Nieva, Asturias— has been carried out. This temple, built during the first francoism, stands out in the region due to the use of the parabolic vaults that gives the image of an inverted ship keel due to the specificity of its location. Likewise, on the one hand, precedents and influences for the temple have been established, while it has been attempted to insert this building into the international pre-conciliar architectural panorama.
