Abstract

Q. orocantabrica (Fagaceae) has been found in 16 localities of the Northern Iberian System (La Rioja: 6, Soria: 4, Burgos: 4, Zaragoza: 2) and, additionally, 2 in Álava and 2 in Navarra. This species ranges from 420 to 1870 m, whereas it is more characteristic of certain oak groves that occur over the beech forests. Moreover, in 12 localities hybrids of Q. orocantabrica with 3 other oak species have been identified.
