Abstract
Active geomorphological processes are basis for both natural hazards susceptibility and risk assessment through mapping the terrain characteristics. The exact location of these processes will serve planners to know the terrain characteristics in order to avoid and/or reduce future problems linked to human activities. A geomorphologic active processes map at 1:25.000 (guidelines according to Martin-Serrano et al., 2005) scale has been carried out by means of aerial and satellite photo-inter- pretation and field work, generating a GIS. The main results show the presence of different active geomorphological proces- ses associated with mainly three relief domains according to the appearing landforms in the study area. The first domain is characterized by the presence of gravitational processes developed on Palaeozoic quartzites and shales. The second domain represents the fluvial processes mainly formed by depositional and denudational landforms related to the fluvial activity of the Eria river and its tributaries. This domain is developed in all lithologies but with more prominent effects on the Neogene and Quaternary sedimentary detrital formations with different degree of cementation. The third domain identify the anthro- pogenic landforms and the interplay between human activity and the landscape, triggering active processes modifying the natural landforms.
