Abstract

Introduction: Morphostructural alterations in the lower limbs are conditions that have a multifactorial aetiology and can be associated with various pathologies such as plantar fasciitis, low back pain and knee pain. The application of different orthopaedic or physical treatments can contribute to improving ambulation and autonomy. For this reason, the aim of this thesis is to analyse the therapeutic efficacy in patients with the presence or absence of leg length discrepancy (LLD) and/or bronchial asthma and its relationship with static and dynamic gait patterns. Methods: Three observational and cross-sectional studies were carried out. The reliability and repeatability of the pressure platform (I), the effect of simulated LLD on the dynamic parameters of the feet during gait (II), and the influence of bronchial asthma on the static pattern of plantar pressures (III) were evaluated. Results: The pressure platform demonstrated intra and intersession reliability in patients with simulated LLD (I). Increasing LLD produces a decrease in both peak and mean pressure on the longer leg and an increased stance time (II). An increase in load on the left heel and a decrease in the maximum pressure of the right forefoot were observed in the patients with bronchial asthma (III). Conclusions: Leg length discrepancy and bronchial asthma produce variations in static and dynamic gait patterns.
