Zusammenfassung

The benedictine female monastery of Santa María de Carbajal has developed its activity in the land of Leon from the first half of the 10th century to the present day. It was born next to the royal palace in León city. It moved in 1148 to the village of Carbajal de la Legua, and It returned to the city of León in 1600. Working in its functions, It has generated the documentation that is kept in its archive. This archive has been the principal tool used in the management of monastic heritage. In this thesis, the organization of the monastic archive is presented, including a multilevel description of the funds, and an archival analysis of its documentary series. Likewise, a study of the producing organism is carried out and the history of the archive is studied in depth.
