Abstract
Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, by establishing a framework for Community action in order to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides, sets in motion the mandatory periodic inspections of the equipment in use (for professional use) in the European Union. Inspections will verify that the pesticide application equipment meets the requirements in annex II "Health and safety and environmental requirements". This directive has been transposed into Spanish law by the Royal Decree 1702/2011.This directive has as precedents the directives, 2006/42/EC, that addresses the "CE marking" as assumption for compliance with "essential requirements for safety and health relating to design and the manufacture ofmachines" and, 2009/127/EC, with regard to machinery for pesticide application, extending the requirements of health and safety, where appropriate, as well as domestic animals and goods, and, when applicable, the environment. To meet the requirements contained in the above-mentioned Directive (2006/42/EC and2009/127/EC), there are, respectively, the harmonised standard ISO 4254-6 (2009), and the ISO 16119 (2013).The group of standards ISO 16122 (2015) "Agricultural and forestry machinery. Inspection of sprayers in use", which should be the basis of inspections, due to its divergence from the afore mentioned ISO standards and the lack of specificity and technical rigor in their content, make it difficult to establish a clear reference in the inspections.
