Abstract
The Local authorities must look for the best way to improve the sustainable development in their own municipalities. One of the most useful methods is a correct selection of indicators. An indicator must be clear, comprehensive, reliable and must help with the objetives in sustainable planning. Citizens must participate in the process as 21 Local Agenda advices. There are some experiences on these way of working.
