Abstract

Royal Palce of León, built from the 14th century onward in Rúa street, suffered later a lot of reform and partial mutilations. This paper analyses a portion of his complex History, placing particular emphasis on 18th's facts, when the old royal place was turned into a multifunctional place: court, corregidor's house, bread warehouse, barraks and, specially, textile factory, planned under the illustrated spirit to industrialize the city. The sorry state of its constructive structures, the industrial failure and the high urban revaluation of its site, cause its complete restructuring and, later, its desaparition because of the new urban projects of the 19th century and the enlargement planned for the leonese capital.
