Abstract

The present research is framed around the Biggs model 3P that defines student learning from the conjugation of three predominant variables, the presage variables formed by the profile of the student and the context, the process variables constituted by the strategy and the motivation which give the two types of approaches, and product variables related to academic performance. Concurrently, within the new prevailing educational models competences have been placed as the key objective to achieve. We analyze the correlation between both variables and the incidence that can have other secondary variables such as self-regulation, self-efficacy and causal attribution, together with control variables. The sample is formed by 1043 students of the University of León of different degrees. The collection of information was done in person through five questionnaires. The results generally support the hypotheses proposed. The results are discussed and possible future study lines are indicated.
