The transmission of part of the knowledge from ancient cultures has been shown in diverse compendia with special historical relevance. One of the most important for the study of Pharmacology was the Treatise of the therapeutic uses of multiple plants, minerals and other substances with sanitary nature, De Materia Medica. This Work collects this kind of knowledge until the epoch of Nero and has established its author, Dioscorides, the consideration of ‘Father of Pharmacology’. The purpose of this oral communication is to analyze the influence of the recapitulation of scientific knowledge made by this military doctor of the Roman Empire.
