Abstract

Seventy aphid species and subspecies are recorded from Chile; samples were collected in the Chilean Regions of Valparaiso, Santiago Metropolitan, Maule, Nuble, Biobio, La Araucania, Los Rios, los Lagos, Aysen of General Carlos Ibañez del Campo and Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica. Hyperomyzus pallidus and Myzus varians are recorded for the first time in South America. Eleven species are recorded for the first time from Chile, among them the autochthonous Aphis adesmiae, Blanchardaphis poikila and Pentamyzus acaenae. Twenty and eight species are cited for the first time in any of the Chilean regions. Another 21 species are recorded for the first time in a province belonging to a region in which the species was already known. Increases of species quantities, in total and in South American autochthonous and allochthonous species, known from Chile and from several regions are commented.
