Abstract

This survey explores the attitude of students from the seven special fields of the Faculty of Education of the University of Leon (Spain) towards disabled persons and multicultural education. In both cases, very positive attitudes were identified. Third-year students had a better attitude towards multicultural education than freshmen. This same effect was also found as regards attitudes towards disabled persons, but only in the special fields of Special Education and Hearing and Language. The most positive attitudes were found in students of certain special fields of Education. Women consistently showed better attitudes than men. Lastly, those students who had had previous contacts with social or cultural minorities showed more favorable attitudes towards multicultural education.
