Abstract

Thirty four samples of Aphis collected on species of Adesmia in Argentina and Chile have been studied and seven species have been identified: A. craccivora, which is a cosmopolitan and polyphagous species, A. mendocina and A. adesmiae, which have been previously recorded in Argentina on Urtica mollis and Adesmia boronioides respectively, and four new species: A. zapalina Mier Durante & Ortego, sp. n., Aphis acuminata Nieto Nafría & von Dohlen, sp. n. and A. renjifoanae Ortego & Nieto Nafría, sp. n. from Argentina, plus A. biobiensis Nieto Nafría & Mier Durante, sp. n. from Chile, which are established here. Differences between the new species and other of Aphis known in Argentina and Chile are presented. Alate viviparous females of A. adesmiae are described. An identification key for apterous viviparous females of Aphis species living on Adesmia is included.
