Abstract

In this work we specified, for the province of Leon, the main features of transport, both in terms of infrastructure as in terms of services offered. We review the evolution of investments in the railway sector, the road transport and the transport by air, with special attention to the responsibilities of each Administration and to the future projections based on different Infrastructure Plans and Reports. In the last part of the paper we address the impact of transport services in the province, both in terms of value added and in terms of employment and review several indicators that indirectly informed of the sector’s performance. Finally, the geographical structure of the main transport relations of Leon with other provinces are also addressed.
