Abstract

A review of corpora studies and usefulness in writing development and learning. We analyze the usefulness and applications of the corpora studies as methodological tools, and an illustration with a comparative study of two corpora types of writing, one of development and other professional one. Results show significant statistically differences in the 61 % of the contrasts, with a similar tendency in both corpora, suggesting that developmental patterns go closing them to the professional ones in written communicative competence. We value the results, the theoretical and applied implications in the development and in the education, and the future perspectives.
