Abstract

In the surroundings of the Los Barrios de Luna area (León province, NW Spain), a very complete succession of Palaeozoic sedimentary rocks crops out. This geological series constitutes a historical reference for the study of geology in the Cantabrian Zone, and contains elements (diverse lithologies, fossils and sedimentary structures) which make it a magnificent "classroom" for demonstrating various aspects of fieldwork in Geology. The value of part of this geological series, comprising four Cambrian and Ordovician formations, is reflected in the recent design and implementation of a guided tour, the installation of an information board on the site, and the production of an explanatory leaflet.
