Abstract

This work studies the non rupicolous endemic communities of the ultramafic rocks of NE Portugal. Its floristic composition, corology and ecology are discussed. Some nomenclature corrections and tow new association are proposed: Arenario fontiqueri-Armerietum langei (Armerion eriophyllae) and Alysso lusitanici-Santolinetum semidentatae (Artemisio glutinosae-Santolinion rosmarinifoliae). The Brometalia rubenti-tectori communities, previously considered as endemic, are integrated in a very common association in the Iberian Peninsula - the Trifolio cherleri-Taeniatheretum caput-medusae. It is concluded that the two studied ultramafic areas (Bragança-Vinhais and Morais) don't possess the same communities and belong to different biogeografic sectors.
