Resumen
The identity of eleven species of Carex and six unnamed infraspecific taxa in Hudson¿s Flora Anglica is studied here. Information in Hudson¿s Flora is compared with Linnaeus and other contemporary botanists¿ protologues. The adequate name in use is indicated in each case. Five species named by Hudson: Carex acuta, C. brizoides, C. inflata ¿in the second edition sense¿, together with C. muricata and C. saxatilis, were then undescribed taxa, and now they have different current names. Three of them, C. caryophyllea Latourr., C. depauperata Curtis ex Stokes and C. riparia Curtis, are typified here. We did not find any difference among the unnamed infraspecific taxa that Hudson marked with a Greek letter ¿Carex disticha â, C. flava â, C. pilulifera and C. vesicaria â¿ and the species which they are subordinated to. Finally we explain the taxonomic problems preventing to interprete three taxa which Hudson named Carex cespitosa, C. acuta â and C. acuta ã.
