Abstract

This article seeks to give news of the next coming into effect of the International Agreement on the protection of all migrant workers and their relatives, of December 18th, 1990. The twentieth ratification carried out by Guatemala will allow that on 1 July 2003, this text, that began to be elaborated in the 8o's, be able finally to be obligatory. Now then, the central nucleus of the work is centred on the analysis of the juridical content of the conventional text. Along the article the objectives of the Agreement are presented, it is defined the personal field of application, the human rights of all migrant workers and their relatives, be these documented or not documented. Finally, the practical effectiveness of the Agreement is analyzed concluding about the importance that this text finally goes into effect; and that, also, be ratified by the biggest number of States, being advisable its obligatory nature for Spain.
