Abstract

This article shows the close links between history and politics in Aristotle. History is not just an erudite way of knowing a past that does not exist, but also helps to understand a fundamental, natural dimension of what it is to be human, in full depth: namely, sociability. Although humankind finds its purpose in living, humans are fully realised when living together. Living and living in society are two necessary conditions for an historical, biological and political process that has existed, exists and will conti-nue to exist over time until humans find a perfect, ideal and immutable form of state, of government to organise society.
