Abstract
Spanish humanist Benito Arias Montano, main author of the Polyglot Bible of Antwerp, was one of those whom the Spanish Enlightenment was greatly interested in revitalizing, especially because of his supposed writings against the Jesuits, which were used in the eighteenth century as one of the justifications for the expulsion of the Company of Jesus from Spanish territories. Manuscript copies of his writings were made, and in the following pages we study the copy housed in the Archivo General de la Nación in Mexico, as well as the author's significance in the Americas during the eighteenth century.
