Zusammenfassung
The purpose of this article is to arrive at a definition of género picaresco--among the many existing ones which may prove to be useful for the study of the influence of the Spanish genre on other literary traditions. Firstly, we go through an outline of the different definitions which have been proposed, and than we examine in detail the definition proposed by Jenaro Taléns and analyse its advantages for comparative literature studies.
