Abstract
The aim of this article is to trace the influence of San Juan de la Cruz on Federico García Lorca's Sonetos del amor oscuro; such influence can be seen in Lorca's use of certain literary motifs, topica and a vocabulary which had been used by the autor of Cántico espiritual. In this article there is also a reflection upon the causes and meaning of that influence and the importance of Cántico espiritual on Lorca's poetic production.
