Abstract
Spain contemplated the abolition of Slavery in its remaining colonies during the laste decades of the 18th century. The most outstanding abolitionist in Puerto Rico was Rafael María de Labra y Cadrana, a famous Spanish politician and propagandist renound for his political guests and having belonged to the Institución Libre de Enseñanza.
