The aim of this paper is to put forward a possible answer to two questions that have to do with one of the so called causative constructions by critically revising the aim solutions suggested by other authors: (a) is hacer + infinitivo a verbal periphrasis? (b) what syntactic role is fulfilled by an occasional syntagm which could be considered a semantic subject of the derivative?
