Resum

This article will consider the methods of repression and stigmatization used against the "Women in Red" from León, and the strategies they used to survive. With the term "women in red" I allude to all the mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters and even friends of those who were killed, those who ended in prison or joined the guerrillas during the civil War and the post-war period. These three "types" of wife/women (to executed by fire arm, prisoner and guerrilla fighter), even when they lived different circumstances, had many things in common; All of them were constantly monitored and controlled by the Franco authorities and the Guardia Civil; All of them were the victims of an economic and propagated repression, of a strong social stigmatization and even of imprisonment, only because they were women close to those who were retaliated. This was because the Francoists presupposed in them a political collaboration with the Republicans, although, in most cases, they had not had a the slightest participation. The solidarity between these women as well as certain "strategies" used by them, were the key to their survival and started becoming actions of a "civil resistance" against the Franco dictatorship with a clear political significance.
