Resumen

The 2015 gender violence macro-survey indicated that the total of women who had experienced gender violence in the past year and she had children, more of 60% had witnessed the assaults or had directly suffered them of the batterer. These exposure to situations in childhood has a notable impact on psychosocial development that also affects academic achievement. In this paper the degree of victimization of a sample of children exposed to domestic violence against their mothers by their partners and the possible relationship with difficulties at school is evaluated. The results show a relationship between psychosocial adjustment of children and their academic achievement as well as the presence of significant differences depending on grade level and gender of children. We conclude on early detection of these situations is needed to avoid their possible implications, and that school plays an important role as a preventive agent.
